PRESS RELEASE 24 February 2004Media Lab Europe Signs Research Partner Agreement with AOL DUBLIN, IRELAND - FEBRUARY 24, 2004 - Media Lab Europe, European research partner
of the world-renowned MIT Media Lab, today announced a research partner
agreement with America Online, Inc. (AOL), the world's leading
interactive services company.
The three-year agreement provides AOL with access to new research
developments, internal technical reports and unpublished research
developed at Media Lab Europe.
Commenting on the agreement, Mario Vecchi, Senior Vice President of
International Development in AOL's Dublin Office, said: "Our
relationship with Media Lab Europe will play a major part in our ongoing
innovation in Europe, and we look forward to greatly benefitting from
the Lab's continuing creative activity."
Media Lab Europe is a uniquely valuable resource for conducting research
that is frequently too costly or too esoteric to be accommodated within
a corporate environment. Simon Jones, Managing Director at Media Lab
Europe, said the organisation's goal is to provide partners with easy
access to ideas and their creators. "An important part of belonging to
the Lab's partner grouping is the opportunity to share information in a
neutral environment, and to form alliances," he explained.
Established three years ago, Media Lab Europe is a not-for-profit
international research and innovation Lab. Partners include AIB, America
Online, BBC, BT, Business Lab, eircom, Ericsson, essilor, Fondazione Ugo
Bordoni, Highlands & Islands Enterprise (Scotland), Intel and the
Portuguese Science Foundation.
America Online, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Time Warner Inc.
Based in Dulles, Virginia, America Online is the world's leader in
interactive services, Web brands, Internet technologies and e-commerce
services.
