The Artificial People

Woodruff W. Woodward is an interesting little peek at how a degree of anthropomorphism can be employed in the realisation of a degree of social presence.

Hardware: Dual 1GHz P3 processors, 500MB RAM, 30GByte hard disk, 2x Firewire OHCI PCI boards, 2x Sony DFW-VL500 Firewire cameras, SoundBlaster "Live", servo controllers, ...

Here we can see the second prototype: Joe
Research: USB Nervous System, Human Robot Interaction, Speech, Vision, Expressive Motion
This robot is designed for portability and with 5DOF servo controlled head and (currently) 24DOF passive limbs, USB cameras, speech recognition
